
- She serves as department chairperson for the Physical Education
department. She has been recognized as a "Teacher of the Year", "Teacher of
the Month" and "Mississippi Association for Health, Physical Education,
Recreation and Dance Secondary Teacher of the Year." Her physical education
students were featured in a "Children's First Moment" on WTOK-TV in Fall
2007. Because of her commitment to the health and wellness of her students,
in 2008, she wrote and received a grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield
of Mississippi Foundation for $35,845 for the construction of a walking
track on the north end of the school's campus. The walking track was
finished in late September of 2008. She and Principal, Billy Burnham
co-wrote a Project Fit America Grant in 2008. PFA built a 7 station outdoor
fitness training area on the south end of the campus and provided physical
education equipment and the PFA curriculum for the physical education
department. Coach Chance is a member of MAHPERD and AFT. In the past, she
assisted in prompting Mississippi State University officials to open the
P.E. Department to women and also served as the first female president of
the MSU P.E. Majors Club.

level of fitness.
